In & around the gîte
Fun activities for everyone
In the Gedinne area there are more than 25 signposted walks, ranging from 3 to 20 km. Three of them pass by the gte. A map with all walks is ready for you in the gîte.
For mountain bike enthusiasts there are 4 marked routes in Gedinne. They are very well marked, and range from 25 to 70 km. Three of the routes run past the gîite, so you can start your tour directly from the house.
There are also many beautiful roads in the area for cycling with the racing bike, past the various villages in the area, where there is usually very little traffic. A network of nodes is being set up to make it even easier to map out cycling routes in the future.
Of course you can also enjoy the garden, and the facilities in the games room in the house!
For rainy days or sports fanatics, there are 2 televisions - including a sports offer. For culinary enthusiasts there is a very well equipped kitchen with all the necessary equipment and of course also a BBQ.
In the village of Gedinne
Immerse yourself in nature
Gedinne is one of the most wooded villages in Belgium. More than half of the territory consists of forests and forests. Walking through the woods or along the Houille River offers beautiful views. In the early morning or at the end of the day you have a good chance to see beavers, deer, roe deer, wild boars or other wild animals. Horseback riding is another option to explore the forests.
When there is snow, the village also offers the possibility of cross-country skiing: 4 trails, ranging from 3 to 12 km, take you through the forest.
The Tour du Millénaire is not to be missed: a great vantage point, located at the highest point in the province of Namur and the 5th highest in Belgium (more than 500 meters high). Platforms at 15, 30 and 45 meters above the ground offer spectacular views of the area. Not for the faint of heart!
To relax during or after an outdoor activity, there are some unique cafes and terraces, such as the Invictus brewery or the Moulin du Boiron (2 km from the gîte), a great bar with terrace and beach on the lake. A beautiful sight!

In the wider area
Sports and cultural activities between the valleys of the Lesse and the Semois
At about a 30 minute drive from the gte there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Ardennes.
Gedinne is located between the valley of the Lesse and the Semois. Both rivers offer opportunities for kayaking, canoeing or other water sports.
Golf enthusiasts will find a golf course about 30 minutes from the gte.
The animal park of Han-sur-Lesse or the Owl Garden in the neighboring village of Bièvre are fun activities to do with children. The ladder hike in Rochehaut is highly recommended for adventurous children.
Dinant, Bouillon or the caves of Han-sur-Lesse are about a 30 minute drive away, as are some beautiful but lesser known places across the French border, the book village of Redu, the castle of Lavaux-Sainte-Anne or the Euro Space Centre.
Options for "wining and dining"
As Belgians we love good food and drinks.
Although the gte offers an excellent kitchen to cook for your group yourself, you can of course also enjoy the catering in the area.
The village and region offer plenty of options here too, from authentic local cafes and restaurants to Michelin-starred culinary restaurants and everything in between. Some restaurants also deliver to your home.
For a relaxing break during or after an outdoor activity there are some lovely bars and terraces such as the Invictus brewery or the Moulin du Boiron (2km from the gite) - perfect for dinner or drinks by the lake.
